ESB International Case Study

James Bond Casino Royale Themed Staff Christmas Party (400 guests).

Established in 1975, ESB International is a subsidiary of the Irish state-owned Electricity Supply Board. The company is a leading global engineering consultancy firm specialising in the utility sector. ESB International lives up to its name with clients in over 120 countries across the world. It offers consulting services for all areas of a utility’s operation, in areas such as power generation, transmission, distribution and customer supply.

ESB International contacted the Hijack Events team about organising a staff Christmas party with a difference. The company wanted a change from the standard pub or restaurant-based festivities. After listening to ESB International’s requirements in depth and discussing a range of options, the Hijack Events team came up with the proposal of a James Bond Casino Royale themed party.

Around 400 staff members attended the event. Following a sit down meal in the Great Hall on the DCU Campus, guests moved into the Exhibition Hall for the main event. The Exhibition Hall had been transformed into a stunning looking casino, complete with real roulette tables, suitably attired croupiers, and atmospheric lighting. Each guest was given a number of roulette chips, and there were prizes for the lucky winners.

The Hijack Event team provided an MC for the night and also organised the music, with a high-tech sound system and professional DJ. Highlight of the evening was when 007 himself took time out from a busy schedule to make an appearance! Breaking with his undercover spying traditions for one night only, James was happy to pose for photographs with the delighted guests.

The James Bond Casino Royale night was a great success, delivering a highly enjoyable social occasion, bringing staff together and boosting morale. ESB International was also pleased with the slick and efficient running of the event, trusting the Hijack Event team to deliver a hugely entertaining night to remember.
